Cheshire Fashion Week
I recently volunteered at Cheshire Fashion Week as I wanted to gain some experience within the events sector to see what a large scale fashion show is like behind the scenes. I helped volunteer for the 2 days the event ran for by organising the seating arrangements b, laying out VIP guest cards and seating charts, greeted guests with a friendly and professional tone to set the tone for the event and gave them all the information they needed such as where to sit, times of the event and some information on the brands that were being showcased. I also helped distribute goody bags to guests when they arrived, directed models for the catwalk, sought out the best dressed guests for the competition that was run and spoke to high profile clientele that arrived. This all contributed to ensure the smooth operations of the event and that all guests were happy.
I gained communication skills by talking to guests and high profile clients maintaining a professional and positive tone. Also, I worked as a team with two other volunteers which improved my team work skills and I had to work to the tight time schedule of the event so my time management skills were improved.
Overall, as well as learning skills I was able to be apart of a diverse event which showcased local designers and made fashion accessible to all by showcasing older models and models with disabilities which I think is inspiring and needed within fashion and I can not wait to get involved with more events like this in the future.
